AMU has been understaffed for years. They work in the political world with constantly changing priorities with not enough positions filled to get a good handle on the full workload but I have seen positive progress. In my opinion; a big part of the answer is to continue to attract qualified professionals and fill the open positions.
The CAL FIRE air program is strong and has made tremendous progress over the years operationally and with greatly enhanced safety. The biggest reason for this progress has been the professionalism and cohesiveness of the California Fire Pilots.
